A private jet charter to London should begin with a London address, not simply an airport name. A board meeting in Canary Wharf, a Mayfair hotel and a country estate west of the city can require quite different arrival plans. Strata Aero can compare the aircraft, airport and onward journey together, with the aim of preserving useful time on the ground. This guide explains the main decisions behind a London business jet charter: when a compact European aircraft makes sense, when a long-range cabin is worth considering, and why airport approval and evening operating hours matter as much as the advertised flight duration.

Which airports serve private jets in London?

FABEGLF

Farnborough Airport

A dedicated private aviation option to consider for London and destinations to the west of the capital.

Runway planning
Runway 06/24: published landing distance available 1,800 m in either direction; take-off run available 2,000 m on 06 and 2,063 m on 24.

The airport publishes opening hours of 07:00–22:00 Monday to Friday and 08:00–20:00 at weekends and on bank holidays, with closure on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Its 2,608 m total concrete length is not the landing distance available. The operator must assess the applicable declared distance, load and weather.

Runway planning
Short urban runway with mandatory steep-approach procedures; use the current AIP for declared distances.

London City requires aircraft and operator approval. Its published list includes specific operator/model combinations, including examples of Citation, Pilatus PC-24, Falcon and Global aircraft. A model appearing on the list does not approve every aircraft or every charter operator flying that model.

Choosing a business jet for London.

These aircraft are candidates for a charter discussion. Airport acceptance and achievable range depend on the individual aircraft, operating weight, runway conditions, weather, approvals and the operator’s performance assessment.

Which London airport suits your private flight?

Treat the airport comparison as a door-to-door exercise. Give the broker the first meeting address, hotel and any appointment outside central London. Compare arrival windows, handling and ground transfers. Farnborough and London City serve different journey patterns; other London-area airports can be assessed if the schedule or aircraft requires them. The quotation should identify the actual airport before you commit.

For a same-day return, check the evening departure arrangement at the same time as the morning arrival. A late dinner or an uncertain meeting finish can make a proposed airport impractical, even if it works perfectly for the inbound sector.

Business jets for European and long-haul London charters

For a small party arriving from Paris, Geneva or another European city, aircraft such as a Citation CJ3+ or Phenom 300E are useful candidates to compare. A Citation XLS+ or Challenger 350 may be worth considering when cabin room, individual seating and luggage become more important. These are enquiry starting points, not promises that a particular aircraft is available or suitable for the requested airport.

For an intercontinental London itinerary, compare a Falcon 7X, Global 6500 or Gulfstream G650ER against the actual route and passenger load. Ask how many proper sleeping positions the offered cabin provides, whether the luggage is accessible in flight, and whether the plan includes a fuel stop. Airport performance and approval can narrow the choice independently of cabin size.

Build London into a wider private jet itinerary

A London–Paris–Geneva sequence can be planned as a connected business itinerary, with the passenger list and bags updated for each sector. London–Nice or London–Ibiza may instead be a one-way start to a holiday. For New York–London or Dubai–London, arrival timing and rest usually deserve more attention than they do on a short European flight. These are route ideas to discuss, not a published timetable or a guarantee of nonstop operation.

Tell us whether the same aircraft must remain with you throughout the trip. Retaining one aircraft can simplify the cabin experience, while separately sourced sectors may offer a better fit when group size changes or several days separate the flights.

What determines a London private jet charter price?

The useful figure is the complete trip quotation. Two aircraft with similar hourly rates may produce different London charter totals once positioning, airport charges, handling, parking and crew arrangements are included. A short day return can be priced differently from two flights separated by a week. An aircraft already close to your departure point may compare favourably with a nominally cheaper type that has to travel further empty.

Ask the proposal to separate included services from potential extras, including catering upgrades, ground transport and schedule changes. An empty-leg opportunity can be considered when your dates and direction are flexible, but it should not be treated as a guaranteed replacement for a fixed business commitment.

From the private terminal to your London address

Arrange the car around the confirmed private terminal or FBO, not the general passenger terminal by default. The driver needs the passenger count, suitcase count and destination, plus a contact who can receive flight updates. A saloon that suits two travellers with briefcases may be a poor choice for a family carrying several large cases. Ask for the vehicle and luggage capacity to be stated clearly.

Avoid building the whole day around an optimistic transfer estimate. London traffic, event road closures and a change in meeting location can affect the final leg. If several passengers are splitting between hotels or offices, tell the team before arrival so separate vehicles or a planned sequence of stops can be arranged.

Choose a schedule with useful flexibility

Give both the preferred time and the latest acceptable arrival. That distinction helps compare aircraft and airport options without assuming that every appointment can move. For a late return, also state the latest time you are willing to leave the meeting venue. The dispatch team can then work backwards through the road transfer, terminal formalities and the airport operating window.

Private flying does not remove weather, air traffic restrictions or border requirements. Keep one realistic fallback in the plan, such as an earlier meeting finish or an alternative suitable airport. For passengers arriving from different places, decide whether the flight should wait for everyone or whether separate travel is more practical if someone is delayed.

Request a private flight to London

Send the departure city, travel date, number of passengers, London address and return plan. Add the number and approximate size of bags, any pets, child seating requirements, mobility assistance and the cabin features that are essential. For a corporate group, identify whether the priority is working together around a table, individual space or sleeping before an early meeting.

A useful shortlist should make the trade-offs visible: named aircraft, recent cabin photographs, airport, estimated schedule, luggage assumptions and the full charter scope. Compare those details together. A larger aircraft is not automatically the best London charter, and a closer airport is not automatically the fastest complete journey.

Useful answers

Private jet travel to London: your questions.

Can every private jet land at London City?

No. Aircraft and operator approval, steep-approach capability and flight-specific performance must be checked. A listing for one operator does not establish approval for another.

Is Farnborough open all night?

No. Its published operating window ends at 22:00 on weekdays and 20:00 at weekends and on bank holidays. Confirm the current schedule for the travel date.

Can I arrive and leave through different London airports?

That can be evaluated. It may improve the ground itinerary but can introduce aircraft repositioning and additional charges, so request it as part of the original quotation.

How much luggage can I take on a London charter?

It depends on the particular aircraft, cabin load and baggage compartment. Provide dimensions for large cases, equipment and pushchairs before confirming the jet.
